Jan 31, 2012

Martin Jezisek has been appointed West Sussex Schools Table Tennis Officer to service an exciting project.

The 30-hour per week role will support schools in the county to develop more table tennis participation and competition opportunities for youngsters and link more of them into club and performance pathways. Coaches and volunteers will be identified and supported to grow the staff infrastructures of schools and clubs to sustain progress made. The new School Games process of which table tennis is a part in Sussex will also be a key priority for the officer.

The position is being supported by a host of partners including Marlow Sports, Mid Sussex Active, Tees Sport, West Sussex Schools Table Tennis Association, Sport England and the Sussex Table Tennis Alliance.

First events on the new officer's radar will be a disability TT taster day for special schools in the Chichester area and a School Games feeder competition at Angmering School.

Jezisek brings vast experience to the role. Of Slovakian origin he's travelled to countries like Canada and Switzerland to ply his TT trade for approaching 20 years. In this country he's set up East Grinstead TTC to be one of the county's most successful set-ups, he leads the Sussex Junior Elite Coaching Centre, is the county's National Councillor and has been one of the new action-orientated breed of developers that, via the County Association and Sussex Alliance forums, have helped to turn Sussex into one of the most proactive table tennis counties in the country.
